Skin Cancer Screening
Dr. Chittineni recommends yearly skin cancer screenings for all of her patients. A skin cancer screening is a visual inspection of your skin to evaluate for possible skin cancer. For a comprehensive exam it is recommended the entire body be evaluated but ultimately it is up to the patient how much they want examined. Patients should not wear make-up during the screening or should not have used sunless tanners two weeks prior to the screening.
Mole Evaluations
Dr. Chittineni recommends a yearly total body mole evaluation for all her patients. For a comprehensive mole exam it is recommended the entire body be evaluated but ultimately it is up to the patient how much they want examined. Patients should not wear make-up during the screening or should not have used sunless tanners two weeks prior to the screening.
Acne and Rosacea
Acne Vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease that consists of blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and even deep cysts that occur on the face, neck, back, chest, shoulders, and upper arms. Acne usually begins at puberty but it is not limited to a certain age group. In fact some may even have acne into their 40’s or 50’s. Acne is usually treated with topical medications, cleansers, oral antibiotics, and chemical peels. In severe or recalcitrant cases our center prescribes Isotretinoin (Accutane ®). Isotretinoin therapy is monitored by monthly blood work and the course generally lasts 20-24 weeks.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is an immune mediated disease which can affect the skin, nails, and joints. It usually causes thick red scaly rashes that can affect any part of the body including the genitals and scalp. Psoriasis is not contagious and cannot be passed along from person to person.
